Burnham Green History

Where does the name Burnham Green come from?  The suffix ham means home, so we may expect Burnham Green to be the home of Burn or somebody with a similar sounding name.  However, there is evidence that the name of Burnham Green may have changed over time.  In a map of Hertfordshire dated 1766, it is called Burrham Green and the settlement on the way to Datchworth is known as Bull Green (rather than Bulls Green as now).
